In The Beginning...
Julie Anne MacKinnon, the wife of a traveling hockey scout, often found herself searching for high-quality, accessible childcare. Frequent moves throughout the US and Canada exposed Julie to many different childcare models.
After settling in the Midwest, Julie founded Kidz Watch Drop-In Childcare in the beautiful community of Sylvania, Ohio. A certified educator and experienced early-childhood education teacher, Julie carefully planned and developed Ohio's first state-licensed, hourly-childcare center.

Our Play 'N Learn Program is also ideal for children needing regular care.
*Reservations are only required for children under 18 months of age.
Center Design
Kidz Watch has been carefully designed to provide a safe and secure environment for children, fire safety, and peace of mind for parents. Half walls separate infant and toddler areas, and allow for continuous teacher observation. Parents can see their children as they play and participate in exciting activities. Children are free to choose an activity they are interested in, or participate in a group activity.
Our facility has been designed for optimum safety. A front door lock system allows only parents and guardians of children into the center. The door is locked at all times. Background checks are done on all staff members.
Core Values
CLEAN
Maintaining an extremely clean facility is a vital component of Kidz Watch’s core beliefs concerning childcare. Children are required to wash their hands when entering and exiting Kidz Watch’s facility, and regularly throughout their stay. The daily toy-cleaning system at Kidz Watch is thorough and strictly enforced. Kidz Watch's sanitation practices meet and surpass anything set forth by the state and the Red Cross.
In addition, Kidz Watch is a healthy environment. Sick children are not permitted to stay while they are ill.
SAFE
Monitoring the safety of the children at Kidz Watch is paramount. The Kidz Watch philosophy is rooted in preventative care, and all necessary steps are taken to ensure the safety and security of the children under our supervision. Safety measures include an exterior security door, safe-toy policy, and the Kidz Watch system of child activity streaming. Kidz Watch care givers are professionally trained to be alert and proactive when caring for children.
PLAY
A carefully structured free-play environment is an integral component of child development. While Kidz Watch care givers are trained to direct and encourage children to explore different activities, the children are given the freedom to choose how they spend their time. Activities at Kidz Watch include: arts and crafts, board games, reading books, costumes, video games, computer software, G-rated videos, play structures, snacks and meals.
Play 'N Learn
Learning takes place in everything that children do, from social interacting with peers in a play environment, to a more structured and planned learning experience. Both types of interaction are necessary parts of early childhood development. Kidz Watch is proud to introduce its Play 'N Learn Program, designed to introduce children to various topics through themed units.
